Battle brought to life

The 52nd annual Sassafras Tea Festival, a Civil War living history event April 23 and 24 in Vernon, offered spectators a glimpse of what a battle between Union and Confederate soldiers would have looked like. Re-enactors portrayed soldiers of both armies, fired artillery and engaged in hand-to-hand combat for attentive crowds both days at Muscatatuck Park, located on the outskirts of Vernon.
