An inmate was beaten and a cell block flooded at Bartholomew County Jail in an uprising that lasted about 90 minutes and required outside agencies to help stop.

1991

Domino’s Pizza withdrew a request for rezoning to allow an upscale pizza restaurant at the southwest corner of 25th and Chestnut streets after more than 300 neighbors objected at a Columbus Plan Commission hearing.

Franklin College proposed the idea of a “Columbus College,” with a brand new, separate campus and a 2-year multi-purpose curriculum of technologies, business administration and community-needed service training.
