Heritage Fund 40th annual meeting today

Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County will celebrate its 40th anniversary at its annual meeting at 4:30 p.m. today at Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St. in Columbus.

The event, open to the public, will begin with refreshments at 4 p.m. The meeting will include highlights from the past year, as well as honor the community foundation’s four decades of giving and look to its future in Bartholomew County.

Jim Henderson, one of the first members of Heritage Fund’s board of directors, will share a bit of the foundation’s early history and present the annual fundraising award named in his honor.

Grant recipients from the past year will be spotlighted, including Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center and the Read By 3 school curriculum program.

Newly selected 2016 Lilly Scholars Bryn Eudy and Karla Guerrero will speak about receiving the prestigious scholarship and Devan Rhoades, first-place winner of the 2016 Betty F. Brown Awards for Instrumental Excellence, will treat guests to his musical talent.

Also, Richard McCoy, executive director of Landmark Columbus, will share more about the newly announced Exhibit Columbus project that has been incubating at Heritage Fund.

Meeting highlights also will include a special retrospective video, a plant and flower sale by students from grant recipient Hauser Junior-Senior High School to raise money for the agriculture program and birthday cake.
