Diane Sue Wilkerson, 78, of Columbus, died peacefully at 2:15 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Wilkerson was a secretary at the Garden City Church of Christ for over 30 years where she also sang in the choir. She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and husband Jerry made lasting memories from their travels, often by motorcycle. She was well known for her cooking skills, her pies were famous and one of her many joys in life was gathering everyone for holidays, especially Christmas. Her smile ever-present, Diane lived in faith and for others as she cherished all she came to know. She will be sadly missed by all she touched.

Mrs. Wilkerson was born in Columbus, Indiana, to the late Elmer and Alice Bishop Rediker on March 1, 1938.

She married Jerry Wilkerson on Dec. 22, 1957. They were married 59 years.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Columbus, Indiana; two sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Wilkerson of Union, Kentucky and Dennis (Pamela) Wilkerson of Freetown, Indiana; daughter, Angela Wilkerson of Columbus, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kelsi Wilkerson, Kati (Evan) Swanson, Jessica (Roberto) Hidalgo, Joseph (Rachel) Wilkerson, Jamah Wilkerson; four great-grandchildren, Quillian, Kayden and Natalia Hidalgo and Bailey Bertram; one sister, Linda Mayes of Columbus, Indiana; nephew, Scott Mayes; and niece, Beth Cordes.

Diane was preceded in death by two infant children, Julie and Tony; brother, Ronnie Rediker; and brother-in-law, Larry Mayes.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter and Brian Gilroy officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
