CINCINNATI — The Green Party candidate vying to fill John Boehner’s (BAY’-nurz) unexpired congressional term in a special June election won’t be eligible to run under that party’s banner for the seat’s full two-year term.
Butler County Board of Elections official in Hamilton said Tuesday that Jim Condit, Jr. became ineligible to run in November for the Green Party when he voted a Republican ballot in the March presidential primary. Condit remains on the ballot for the June 7 special election.
A board letter to Condit cites Ohio law stating a candidate voting in a primary as a member of a political party different from the party that nominated the candidate forfeits the nomination.
Condit says it was his mistake. But he says he’s reviewing options for the November election.
