Wilma Jean Carr, 82, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at 10:56 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Born November 12, 1933, in Bartholomew County, she was the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Stoneking) Cann. She was raised in Decatur County and had been a resident of Columbus for the past 36 years.

Mrs. Carr graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1951 and worked for Arvin Industries for 10 years.

She married Paul L. Carr at Union Baptist Church on November 15, 1952, and he survives.

Other survivors include her sons, Dennis D. (Carol) Carr of Avon and Jim D. (Kerry) Carr of Columbus; her sisters, Charlotte Robbins and Alberta (Bob) Clark, both of Westport; her fourĀ  grandchildren, Brooke (Matt) Speheger of Avon, Brandon (Kayla) Carr of Collierville, Tennessee, Kara Carr and Adam Carr, both of Columbus; and great-grandsons, Grant, Jacob and Colin Speheger, all of Avon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Clifford Carr.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
