The local version of Water World makes its seasonal entrance Thursday when the Donner Aquatic Center opens. In a city of family friendly entertainment ideas, the pool still rules.
A total of 27,653 people attended public sessions last year, according to the center’s figures. Aquatics manager Jim Lemke said such participation levels shows residents’ healthy loyalty to the facility and its old-fashioned fun.
“It’s still a big social thing,” Lemke said. “The junior high kids definitely come to hang out with their friends. And it’s also still a great place for the parents to hang out with the kids.”
