Traffic stop leads to two arrests

Columbus police arrested two men on several drug-related charges after a traffic stop on Indianapolis Road near Arcadia Drive.

Adam D. Fugate, 54, 518 W. Sheridan St., Greensburg, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Chad J. Bowen, 37, 306 High St., Elizabethtown, was arrested on charges of false informing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two warrants, one from Bartholomew County and one from Decatur County, Harris said.

Columbus Police Officer Andrew Plank stopped their vehicle at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on Indianapolis Road near Arcadia Drive, Harris said.

When searching the vehicle, officers found a glass pipe containing methamphetamine in the driver’s door, as well as a digital scale with methamphetamine residue, Harris said.

Fugate is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond, jail officials said.

Bowen is being held without bond at the jail, officials said.
