Forum on human trafficking planned

The Bartholomew County Council for Youth Development is hosting a free forum about human trafficking and its victims.

The forum will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 9 in the Terrace Room at the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. administration building, 1200 Central Ave.

The speaker will be Karen Maher, central regional coordinator for the Indiana Trafficking Victim Assistance program through the Indiana Youth Services Association.

She will talk about what human trafficking encompasses, where and how it happens, who is targeted and how to identify victims and those at risk of becoming victims. Information about how to report suspected trafficking cases also will be provided.

The forum and lunch are free, but reservations are required. To attend, make a reservation at iyi.org/ywc, or contact Indiana Youth Institute statewide outreach manager Debbie Jones via email at [email protected].
