Columbus native playing with U-23 women’s national team in England

Columbus North graduate and Marquette junior soccer player Morgan Proffitt is in England with the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team for the U-23 Women’s Nordic Tournament.

The four-team event is being played at St. Georges Park, the official training center for the England Football Association. The U.S. will play Sweden on Thursday, Norway on Saturday and England on June 7.

Proffitt was one of 20 Americans selected for the trip after participating in the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team training camp May 1 to 7 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

On Tap is top tournament seed

On Tap finished the regular season 7-1 to earn the top seed in the men’s league tournament on June 5.

Pop/Mahan claimed the No. 2 seed with a 6-2 record. Put Boobie In is third at 5-3, followed by Smith’s Row, F-Bombs and Hard Up at 4-4, Revelation at 2-6 and Just Us at 0-8.

In the women’s league, Down & Dirty grabbed the top seed with a 6-1 record. Victorious Secret is the No. 2 seed at 4-3, followed by Beauty and the Beasts and Henry’s Social Club at 2-5.

North grad named All-Region

Columbus North graduate and Indiana University senior Rebecca Brougher has been named to the All-Region 4 first team by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team’s regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Brougher led the Hoosiers to their third consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.

Irish fall in season finale

The St. Bartholomew boys golf team finished its season with a 205-211 loss to Greenwood at Harrison Lake.

Michael Gambaiani and Luke Golding each shot 50 to lead the Irish. Nicholas Schiavello added a 52, and Carter Ward had a 59.
