Donner club hosting Frog Swim Lessons

Frog Swim Lessons will begin today and run for five consecutive weeks at Columbus North High School.

East girls coaches offer girls basketball camp

Hall of Fame coaches Danny Brown and Willie Humes will lead the Columbus East Lady Olympians Summer Basketball Camp that is set for Tuesday through Thursday at East High School for girls entering Grades 3 through 8.

Grades 3 to 6 will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and Grades 7 and 8 will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. East players will demonstrate drills, and the camp will stress fundamentals and team play.

DSI to host annual golf scramble at Otter Creek

DSI’s 31st annual Golf Classic scramble will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Otter Creek.

Cost is $130 per player or $520 per foursome and includes greens fees, cart, tee package, buffet lunch, course refreshments and prizes for hole-in-one, closest-to-the-pin and top four teams. Proceeds will benefit children with disabilities.

Coach to talk about book in presentation at library

Hall of Fame Columbus North cross-country coach Rick Weinheimer will talk about his book, “Move Your Chair: A Guide to Every Day Excellence,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bartholomew County Public Library.

Weinheimer, who also is the English department chair at North, will talk about seeking excellence in all areas of life during his presentation. Copies of the book, which was published in 2015, will be available for purchase.

Fever coach to speak at North basketball camp

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White will give a presentation at the 2016 Columbus North Girls Basketball Youth Camp.

The camp will be from June 6 to 9 at Columbus North High School. Sessions for girls entering Grades 5 to 8 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. June 6, 7 and 9 and 1 to 4 p.m. June 8; and sessions for girls entering Grades 2 to 4 will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. June 6, 7 and 9 and 2:45 to 5 p.m. June 8. White will speak at 3 p.m. June 8.

Cost is $60 for girls entering Grades 5 to 8 and $55 for girls entering Grades 2 to 4. Participants are asked to register by May 26 so an appropriate number of camp T-shirts and other items can be distributed on the first day.

The first 90 players who register will receive a certificate redeemable for admission at a select Fever game this season.

Dates set for East boys basketball camp

The Columbus East Boys Basketball Camp will be June 6 to 9 for boys who have just completed Grades K through 8.

Times are 9 to 10 a.m. for those who have completed Grades K to 3, 10 to 11:30 a.m. for Grades 4 to 6 and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Grades 7 and 8.

Registration will take place the first day of the camp. Cost is $60, with checks payable to Columbus East Boys Basketball.

Columbus North boys to host basketball camps

The Columbus North boys basketball staff and players will host the Columbus North Summer Basketball Camps in June.

Grades 2 through 5 will be June 6 to 9, and Grades 6 through 8 will be June 13 through 15. There also will be a shooting camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 27 to 30 for boys entering Grades 3 through 8. Cost is $100 per camp session and includes an Adidas camp T-shirt. Witkemper Memorial to help addiction programs

The 10th annual Jeremy Witkemper Memorial Golf Outing will be at 12:30 p.m. June 10 at Timbergate Golf Course. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Prizes will be awarded for closest-to-the-pin, longest putt and longest drive, and a car is being donated for a hole-in-one. Proceeds will benefit the substance addiction programs.

Foot Golf Scramble coming to Seymour

The inaugural Southern Indiana Hispanic Services Foot Golf Scramble will be at 6 p.m. June 10 at Seymour Country Club. Cost is $10 per player or $6 for those younger than 16, who must be accompanied by a chaperone, by June 6 or $12 per player 16-and-older at the door. Teams can have four to six players.
