Commiskey man drowns in rural area pond

JENNINGS COUNTY — A Commiskey man drowned in a pond in a rural area near the town.
Arnold Hendrix, 63, was found by his wife in a private pond on property along County Road  850S in the Commiskey area at about 9:36 a.m. Monday, Jennings County Sheriff Gary  Driver said.
Sheriff’s department detectives are continuing to investigate, but the department believes the incident to be an accidental drowning, Driver said.
Hendrix’s wife was able to get him to the edge of the water when rescue personnel arrived, Driver said. The sheriff did not know how deep the pond was or how long Hendrix might have been in the water before being found by his wife.
Jennings County Coroner Gene Rudicel said an autopsy was performed Tuesday in Seymour,  and the cause of death has been ruled fresh water drowning. Hendrix had not been in the  water for long before being found, he said.
Rudicel said he is waiting on Hendrix’ medical records to determine if any medical issues might have led to the victim stumbling and falling into the water. More details may be available in  the next few days, he said.
