Indiana State Police say the southbound lanes of I-65 at mile marker 57.5 south of Columbus reopened at about 11:30 a.m. after an accident blocked the interstate for more than an hour.

Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman, said a semi and a pickup truck pulling a trailer were involved in the accident and one person was injured and taken to a hospital.

Some traffic is slowing just south of the accident scene for a disabled vehicle that pulled off the shoulder of the southbound lanes of the interstate. Police are assisting that motorist.

Traffic slowed or stopped several miles north of the 10 a.m. accident in the southbound lanes, with traffic backups reportedly starting as far north as Columbus.

Police reported some motorists who were stopped got out of their vehicles while waiting for the accident scene to be cleared.
