Donner club hosting Frog Swim Lessons

Frog Swim Lessons will continue Monday and run for four more weeks at Columbus North High School.

East boys swimmers can get pool time, work out

The Columbus East boys swim team will conduct open weight room sessions from 7 to 8 a.m. and open pool sessions from 8 to 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in June and July.

Dates set for East boys basketball camp

The Columbus East Boys Basketball Camp will be Monday through Thursday for boys who have just completed kindergarten through eighth grade.

Times are 9 to 10 a.m. for those who have completed kindergarten through third grade, 10 to 11:30 a.m. for grades 4 to 6 and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grades 7 and 8.

Registration will take place the first day of the camp. Cost is $60, with checks payable to Columbus East Boys Basketball.

Fever coach to speak at North basketball camp

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White will give a presentation at the 2016 Columbus North Girls Basketball Youth Camp.

The camp will be Monday through Thursday at Columbus North High School. Sessions for girls entering grades 5 to 8 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday; and sessions for girls entering Grades 2 to 4 will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 2:45 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. White will speak at 1:15 p.m. June 8.

Cost is $60 for girls entering Grades 5 to 8 and $55 for girls entering Grades 2 to 4. The first 90 players who register will receive a certificate redeemable for admission at a select Fever game this season.

Coach to conduct free softball clinics for girls

Veteran softball coach Eddie Loweth is conducting a free softball clinic for girls on Thursdays beginning this week at Northside Middle School. Grades 2 and younger will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and grades 3 to 6 will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The clinic will focus on hitting, base-running, pitching, fielding and throwing. Girls should bring a bat, helmet and glove.

Columbus North boys to host basketball camps

The Columbus North boys basketball staff and players will host the Columbus North Summer Basketball Camps this month.

Grades 2 through 5 will be Monday through Thursday, and Grades 6 through 8 will be June 13 through 15. There also will be a shooting camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 27 to 30 for boys entering Grades 3 through 8.

Cost is $100 per camp session and includes an Adidas camp T-shirt.

Mr. Basketball winners to host camp at Hauser

Former Indiana Mr. Basketball winners Woody Austin, Jay Edwards and Lyndon Jones will host a MBIII Back to Fundamentals basketball camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Hauser High School for boys and girls ages 7 to 14.

Former East basketball coach to conduct camp

Former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good will host the Too Good Basketball Camp from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 13 to 16 at Ceraland for boys and girls ages 6 to 17.

Cost is $145 per child or $105 for an annual pass holder.

Foot Golf Scramble coming to Seymour

The inaugural Southern Indiana Hispanic Services Foot Golf Scramble will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Seymour Country Club.

Cost is $10 per player or $6 for those younger than 16, who must be accompanied by a chaperone, by June 6 or $12 per player 16-and-older at the door. Teams can have four to six players.

Hollenbeck golf event raises money for scholars

Registration is open for the fifth annual Steve Hollenbeck Memorial Tournament, which will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Timbergate Golf Course.

Cost is $320 per team or $80 per person and includes lunch. Proceeds will benefit Dollars for Scholars in Edinburgh in memory of Hollenbeck. Fliers are available at Timbergate and at Hoosier Sporting Goods in Columbus.

Hanover College will host boys basketball camps this summer for the 50th consecutive year. There will be a Fundamental Skills Camps from June 12 to 15 and July 5 to 8 and a Post/Perimeter Skills Camp from June 27 to 29.

Witkemper Memorial to help addiction programs

The 10th annual Jeremy Witkemper Memorial Golf Outing will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Timbergate Golf Course. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch.

Prizes will be awarded for closest-to-the-pin, longest putt and longest drive, and a car is being donated for a hole-in-one. Proceeds will benefit the substance addiction programs.

North, Seymour to host Arm Care Summer Camps

Long Toss Indiana Arm Care Summer Camps for pitchers will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 13 and 14 at Columbus North’s baseball field, June 15 and 16 at Seymour High School, June 20 and 21 at Connersville High School and June 22 and 23 at Jeffersonville High School.

Cost is $99. Registration is $89 for two or more siblings registering together or $79 for groups of six or more or for those registering for three or more camps.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes to host camps

Southern Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host its first FCA Tennis Camp June 20 to 23 at Indiana University-Southeast for middle school and high school athletes.

The Third Annual FCA Leadership Camp will be July 11 to 13 at Camp Riverdale in Mitchell for middle school and high school athletes. The leadership camp focuses on teaching practical skills for Christian growth and the development of leaders for local FCA huddles.

Critzer Memorial to benefit scholarship fund

The 31st annual Andy Critzer Memorial Golf Tournament will be at noon June 17 at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Cost is $100 per player and includes lunch, dinner and a chance at tournament prizes and door prizes. Sponsorships also are available. Proceeds will benefit a college scholarship for a local high school senior golfer.

Otter Creek site of Face to Face Golf Classic

The 18th annual Face to Face Golf Classic will be at 12:30 p.m. June 14 at Otter Creek Golf Course. There will be a putting tournament at 10:30 a.m., and former Indiana University running back Jermaine Chaney will be the featured speaker during lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Reins to Recovery hosting golf scramble

Reins to Recovery Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center will host an 18-hole golf scramble at 9 a.m. June 18 at Hickory Hills Golf Club in Brownstown.

Cost is $50 per player and includes a cart and meal, with proceeds going to Reins to Recovery. Payouts will be awarded to the top three teams, and prizes will be given for longest drive and closest to the pin. The scramble is limited to the first 14 teams.

IU hosting basketball camps for boys, girls

Indiana University men’s basketball coach Tom Crean is accepting registrations for his 2016 summer basketball camps for kids in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

The Tom Crean Basketball Academy will be June 20 and 21 for boys entering grades 6 to 12. The Player Development and Competition Camp will be June 26 to 29 for boys entering grades 5 to 12.

The Little Hoosiers Basketball Academy will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 13 to 15 and July 18 to 20 for boys and girls entering kindergarten through fourth grade. The Junior Hoosiers Basketball Academy will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 13 to 15 and July 18 to 20 for boys and girls entering Grades 4 to 6.

IU women’s basketball coach Teri Moren will host summer basketball day camps for girls entering grades 3 to 12. A Fundamental Camp will be June 13 to 16 for girls entering Grades 3 to 8, and an Elite Camp will be June 19 for girls entering grades 9 to 12. High school varsity and JV teams are invited to shootouts June 17 or 18.

North football to host Golf for the Gridiron

The Columbus North football program will host Golf for the Gridiron on July 15 at Harrison Lake Country Club.

North plans ‘I’m Possible’ basketball skills camp

Micah Lancaster’s “I’m Possible” basketball Elite Skills Camp will return to Columbus North from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16 and 17 for boys and girls entering grades 4 to 12.

“I’m Possible” also is offering a Kids Camp from 3 to 4 p.m. July 16 for boys and girls entering grades 1 to 3.

Cost is $199 for the Elite Skills Camp and $35 for the Kids Camp. Players should bring their own basketball, notebook and lunch or lunch money for the Elite Skills Camp sessions.
