Indiana parks slate geocaching challenge

Visitors to Indiana’s state parks can play the Centennial Geocache Challenge this year for a chance to win prizes.

Prizes include a $25 gift card to Cabela’s, Indiana State Park Centennial coins, a $50 gift card for state park camping, a $50 gift card to Department of Natural Resources inns and a 2017 annual entrance permit.

The geocache challenge is a self-guided activity through Oct. 30 available at each state park as part of the celebration of this year’s 100th anniversary of Indiana State Parks.

Participants can download a Centennial Geocache Passport at instateparks100.com. The passport is similar to a bingo card with park names inside each square that participants stamp with a property-specific stamp each time they find a centennial cache.

Once you have visited five parks in at least one row you will eligible for prizes. Additional rows completed increases the number of entries and your odds of winning. There is a maximum of 12 possible entries per passport.

Passports must be mailed, scanned or emailed by Nov. 6 to Indiana Dunes State Park, 1600 N. 25E, Chesterton, IN 46304, or to [email protected].

Information can be found on geocaching.com; search by property name or ZIP code. A full list of activities for the centennial is available at instateparks100.com.
