Man faces multiple drug-related charges

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local man after investigators found methamphetamine, syringes and a glass smoking pipe in his backpack.

Brandon Perkins, 38, 2211 McKinley St., was arrested at about 3:31 a.m. Sunday while he was a passenger in a vehicle traveling south on Jonesville Road at South Street in Waynesville, deputies said.

Deputy Sgt. Kris Weisner stopped the vehicle and found four syringes, one containing a liquid, and a glass smoking pipe in Perkins’ backpack, deputies said. Residue on the pipe and the liquid tested positive for methamphetamine, deputies said.

Perkins was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of legend drug injection devices and possession of paraphernalia, deputies said.

Perkins is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $67,500 bond, jail officials said.
