Elsie M. Herron, 91, of Hope, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Before retiring she was employed as a contract bus driver for Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation and as a bookkeeper for Herron Oil Delivery.

Elsie served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Apprentice 1st Class and had participated in the Indy Honors Flight Program. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, traveling and living on the lake. She water skied at 80 years old.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday  at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Rev. Warren Kirk officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Born December 22, 1924, in Hartsville, Elsie was the daughter of Ingle and Hazel Jackson Parrott. She married Paul R. Herron May 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death May 12, 1990.

Survivors include children, Teresa Wiedersatz (Earl Baute) of Columbus, Tim Herron of Hope, Tonja (Randy) Sims of Hope, Ty (Mike) Kamman of Columbus and Tab Herron of Hope; a nephew she helped

raise, Herb (Margie Lou) Boilanger of Hope; grandchildren, Hanz (Chrysty) Wiedersatz of Hope, Nick Wiedersatz of Columbus, Ohio, Travis (Roxanne) Herron of South Carolina, Austin Ashbrook (Genipher

Wakefield) of Columbus, Silas Sims of Englewood, Colorado, Kole Kamman of Urbandale, Iowa, Kyley Kamman, Karson Kamman and Kenton Kamman, all of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Hagan and Kira Wiedersatz, Morgan Clark and Liam Herron.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Donald Parrott; and sisters, Jeanne Renner and Ruby Boilanger.
