Columbus man arrested on drug-related charges

Columbus police arrested a local man on drug-related charges and an out-of-county warrant after a traffic stop.

Columbus Police Officer Travis Harbaugh saw Jake A. Pugsley, 31, 51 S. Amherst Place, driving in the 300 block of Central Avenue at about 2 p.m. Monday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

After confirming there was a warrant for Pugsley’s arrest, Harbaugh stopped his vehicle, Harris said. After placing Pugsley in handcuffs, Harbaugh saw a syringe in the vehicle’s driver door and found additional syringes as well as drug paraphernalia with heroin residue inside the vehicle, Harris said.

Pugsley was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, a Jefferson County warrant, possession of a legend drug injection device and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.

Pugsley is being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
