Community recycling event set

Staff Reports

The Cummins Inc. annual Community-Wide Recycling Day is Thursday, an opportunity to recycle items such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans — but also a lot more.

The event is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the entrance to the Cummins Engine Plant at 500 Central Ave. Cummins will be accepting a wide variety of items, from electronics to batteries, paper, scrap metal, tires (pick-up size or smaller), appliances, batteries or up to five gallons of household paint. For a complete list, visit bcswmd.com/pdf/ cummins-ad-2016.pdf.

In addition, Bartholomew County residents who have expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs can turn them in at a Drug Take Back during the recycling day sponsored by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. Medications won’t be accepted from businesses or pharmacies. For questions about the drug take back, email sheriff@bartholomew.in.gov.
