Community recycling event set

Staff Reports

The Cummins Inc. annual Community-Wide Recycling Day is Thursday, an opportunity to recycle items such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans — but also a lot more.

The event is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the entrance to the Cummins Engine Plant at 500 Central Ave. Cummins will be accepting a wide variety of items, from electronics to batteries, paper, scrap metal, tires (pick-up size or smaller), appliances, batteries or up to five gallons of household paint. For a complete list, visit bcswmd.com/pdf/ cummins-ad-2016.pdf.

In addition, Bartholomew County residents who have expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs can turn them in at a Drug Take Back during the recycling day sponsored by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. Medications won’t be accepted from businesses or pharmacies. For questions about the drug take back, email [email protected].
