William W. Booker, 64, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:05 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Booker retired in 2002 from Cummins Engine Company where he had worked for 30 years.

For the past 12 years he was a greeter at Walmart.

He also was a former deputy with Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and short-order cook at Frisch’s Big Boy and Holiday Inn.

He was member of Calvary Community Church where he served on the Deacon Board for 25 years and was active in the church choir.

He was a 1972 graduate of Columbus North High School and earned a bachelors degree in 2002 from Calvary Midwest Bible College.

He was a medic in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and going out to eat.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Calvary Community Church with Bishop Charles A. Sims officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to time of service Friday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Community Church.

Mr. Booker was born in Columbus March 7, 1952. He was the son of Warren and Flora Scott Booker.

He married Deborah L. Franklin, April 11, 1998.

Survivors include his wife; children, Yvette Hatchett, Chris (Keisha) Thomas and Erica Thomas, all of Michigan; brothers, Earl (Carol) Booker of Fort Wayne, Henry Booker and Larry Booker, both of Indiana, and Jimmy Booker of Madison; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Seniours of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Booker; and sisters, Marilyn Kay Booker and Penny Sue Booker.
