Clouses earn alumni honor

Merrill and Norma Clouse were named the Hauser Outstanding Alumni for 2016. Both are 1939 graduates of Hope High School.

They helped organize the first Hope Heritage Days and helped establish the Yellow Trail Museum.

Merrill Clouse assisted with the Veterans Memorial in the Moravian Cemetery coming to fruition and was founding president of Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. in 1957. He also helped form the Hope Volunteer Fire Department, even serving as fire chief for 26 years.

They also were the owners and operators of Clouse’s Regal Store and Clouse’s IGA/Frozen Food Center.

Norma Clouse died in April.
