Blue Blazers top seed in broomball tourney
Blue Blazers won two more games Tuesday to finish the regular season 7-1 and take the top seed into this week’s Columbus Broomball playoffs.
The Blazers beat White Lightening 6-1 and Red Raiders 3-1.
Matt Street netted three goals against White Lightening, while Dave Dickinson, Robert Jones and Shawn Bauman all scored one. Scott Herron had the goal for White Lightening.
Ben Eckhart scored two goals, and Street had the other for the Blazers against Red Raiders. Dane Bremer scored for the Raiders.
In the week’s other game, White Lightening edged Red Raiders 4-3. Todd Houchin netted three goals, and Brent Gordon had the other for the Lightening. Bremer, Kha Vu and Tyler Saben scored for the Raiders.
White Lightening and Red Raiders will meet in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will face Blue Blazers for the championship at 7:30 p.m. that night.
