Free cookout for military, first responders

A Fourth of July cookout is being planned in Columbus for veterans of any branch of the military, current military, police officers, firefighters and other first responders.

The event will be hosted that day from noon to 4 p.m. at the Kroger grocery, 3110 National Road, human resources manager L.J. Gearhart said.

It will be free for those in uniform, or those who can show the proper identification.

The general public also is welcome, with donations requested. All proceeds will go to the USO at Camp Atterbury, Edinburgh.
