The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department collected 350 pounds of pharmaceutical waste from Bartholomew County residents during the Community-Wide Recycling Day event June 23 at Columbus Engine Plant.
This year, the Cummins-sponsored event added the drug take-back as an additional opportunity for residents to turn in expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs.
The drug take-back events are planned to make sure the drugs are not accessible and will not end up in the wrong person’s possession, the sheriff department said. Drugs collected during the take-back events are incinerated.
