Holiday stars come out tonight

All of the details have been nailed down for tonight’s Independence Day celebrations, but the headline acts are still up in the air. But after all, where else would fireworks be?

1) Columbus Regional Health presents QMIX Musical Fireworks 27, “Star Spangled Night.” Free activities such as children’s games and bounce houses begin at 5:30 p.m. A variety of food is available. Fireworks set to music begin at 10 p.m. Activities are at Columbus Municipal Airport and in front of Ivy Tech Community College on Central Avenue in Columbus. Information: 812-379-1073; qmix.com

2) Old-Fashioned Independence Day is 5 to 10 p.m. today on and around the Hope Town Square on State Road 9. Free activities include a children’s parade, free contests and games sponsored by Yellow Trail Museum. A variety of food is available and a bluegrass band performs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Information: Barb Johnson, 812-371-7969

3) Ceraland Park’s Fourth of July weekend begins tonight and runs through Monday at 3989 S. County Road 525E, Columbus. Park admission is $2 per person ages 4 and older, for those without season passes.  Daytime activities from Saturday-Monday start around noon. Fireworks add a finishing touch at 10 p.m. Monday.
