Jeffrey Lynn Knight, age 53, of Morgan City, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born August 13, 1962, in Columbus, to Peggy (Elrod) Tungate and Eddie Knight. Jeff grew up in Hartsville, Indiana, and attended Hope Elementary and Hauser High School. He moved to Louisianna in the early 1980s.
Jeff is survived by a sister, Melanie (Lonnie) Spillman of Greensburg; brother, Tim Knight of Texas; nieces, Lindsay Spillman of Greensburg, Christine (Scott) McPherson of Waldron and Cathy Knight of Shelbyville; nephews, Cody and Adam Spillman of Greensburg; an aunt, Mary Lobdell of Hope; uncles, Bobby (Mary) Knight of Hartsville, E. Howard (Elaine) and Ronnie Knight of Columbus, Danny (Michelle) Knight of Bloomfield and Oakley Junior Knight of Kentucky; several cousins; a great-niece, Cheyanne McPherson, and two great-nephews, Colton and Eli Hattabaugh; and a stepson, Cody (Mary) Coleman of Morgan City, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; grandparents, Ernest and Anna Elrod and William Oakley and Verna Knight; a great-niece, Alexis McPherson; and his longtime companion, Sheila LeBlanc.
A public memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Hartsville Christian Church on the east side of the square in Hartsville, Indiana. Jeff was cremated and burial will be at a later date.
