Gasoline prices skyrocketed to $3.09 a gallon at several Columbus area service stations, and lengthy lines of fuming customers formed at the few stations still selling it for more than 20 cents per gallon less.

Bartholomew County Health Department Nursing Division officially opened at its new office in the County Annex on State Street, tripling its health care space.

Congressman Lee Hamilton opened local headquarters in the former Major T. Jester Department Store on Washington Street. He was seeking a second term in the House of Representatives.
