Two Columbus teens accused of dealing controlled substances

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two juveniles from Columbus for drug dealing and possession after a property damage accident near State Road 7 North and County Road 950N in Geneva Township.

The accident happened at 12:02 a.m. Saturday involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Volkswagon Passat, deputies said.

While investigating, deputies found pills in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard of the Volkswagon. The 16-year-old and a 17-year-old in the vehicle had a large amount of pills and money in their possession, deputies said.

The juveniles told deputies they were on their way home to Columbus from the Madison Regatta.

Deputies recovered more than 100 Alprazolam pills, a schedule IV controlled substance, a drug that is used to treat anxiety disorders, according to investigators. The deputies also recovered  a gram of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance, and $1,034 in cash.
