Roger Dean Moffitt, 54, of Jewell Street, died at 3:43 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Roger was born April 12, 1962, in Columbus, the son of Charles E. and Betty Jean Wheatcraft Moffitt.
Roger was previously employed by Advanced Auto Parts and Hoosier Parts. While serving in the National Guard for over 24 years, Roger served as an infantryman, mechanic, as well as a heavy machine operator. He was deployed to Germany and Afghanistan. Roger loved dancing, hunting, riding motorcycles and was a member of ABATE, Rolling Thunder, American Legion Post 24, VFW Post 1987; Amvets Post 509; Moose Lodge #398 and Eagles Lodge #741. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren around a bonfire.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Snyder Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Jean Wheatcraft Moffitt of Columbus; a son, Roger Daniel Moffitt of Columbus; daughters, Malinda Jo (Rick) Jenkins and Allison Taylor Moffitt both of Columbus; grandchildren, Kyra and Athena Jenkins; a sister, Toni “Mandy” Moffitt-Miller of Columbus; and a brother, Steve (Diane) Niemoeller of Deland, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Moffitt in 2005.
Services were entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
