Police arrest two after marijuana spotted through window

NORTH VERNON — Two Country Squire Lakes residents were arrested after police saw a large marijuana plant through a window of their home.

Lionel R. Smith, 59, and Reva M. Brown, 44, who reside in the northwest Jennings County subdivision, are charged with maintaining a common nuisance as a Level 6 felony, according to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition, both Tudor Place residents are facing misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, the release stated.

After the plant was spotted, deputies first met with Smith and Brown before their home was searched Thursday, which turned up 22 marijuana plants and several drug-related items, the release stated.
