Martha F. “Aunt Martha” Knox, 87, of 12th Street, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Martha was born April 26, 1929, in Dekalb County, Tennessee, the daughter of Wilson Wesley and Elsie Ann Paris Blackburn. She married Hugh Wilson Knox December 12, 1947.

Aunt Martha was a member of Elizabethtown United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed going on vacations with Rita and Tilford Hoover, as well as collecting cardinals and watching birds.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Dereck Fields and Wes Jones officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt Buzzard, Chris Buzzard, Cody McCloud, Reece Blackburn, Gary Cheek, Wendell Huff, Dalton Clark and Tilford Hoover.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Elizabethtown United Methodist Church or the American Alzheimer’s Association.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kay Buzzard of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Buzzard and Christopher Knox Buzzard; and a niece, Katrina Burkett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh, May 8, 2000; sister, Norma Mullins, in 1999; an infant sister, Georgia B. Blackburn; a stepbrother, Ernest Vantrease; and a stepsister, Edith Talley.
