North graduate ties for 22nd in Indiana Open

 

FRENCH LICK — Michael VanDeventer carded a final-round 1-over-par 71 Thursday to finish in a tie for 22nd place in the Indiana Open Championship.

VanDeventer, a Columbus North graduate who will be a junior at Ball State, had rounds of 74, 76, 69 and 71 at French Lick’s Donald Ross Course for a 72-hole total of 290.

Ian Coffey, a North graduate who will be a junior at St. Francis, followed rounds of 74, 76 and 75 with a 72 Thursday. He finished in a tie for 43rd place at 297.

Brett Melton of Washington fired a final-round 63 to win with a 272, four shots better than third-round leader Timmy Hildebrand of Carmel.
