Kathleen “Kathy” Camacho Ward, 68, of Columbus, died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 9, 1947, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Kathy was the daughter of Anastasio and Lottie Miller Camacho. She married Bob Ward at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Cumberland, Kentucky, in August of 1965.
Kathy had attended beauty school and business college and was office manager for Rhoades Aviation for 40 years. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where she served coffee and donuts after Masses. She enjoyed golfing at Greenbelt and Clifty Creek Golf courses, following all her grandchildren’s activities and world traveling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, by Father Clem Davis. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Rosary will be recited by Deacon Bill Jones following calling.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bob Ward; son, Rob (Sarah) Ward of Columbus; daughter, Missy (Brian) Fleetwood of Columbus; sisters, Cecelia (Jim) Gross of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Mary Sturgill of Columbus; brothers, Marcus (Linda) Camacho of Crittenden, Kentucky, and Tom Camacho of Hamilton, Ohio; grandchildren, Skylar and Peyton Fleetwood, Kennedy, Regan and Carter Ward, Bryce, Morgan and Mallory Jones, all of Columbus; and her Faithful Friend, Buddy.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Anastasio “Sonny” Camacho.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
