A crowd estimated at 17,000 attended opening night at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair, slightly down from the 19,000 of the first night in 1990.

1966

The worst heat wave in 30 years created a profitable run on local appliance firms for air conditioners but caused problems for Public Service Indiana, which had to deal with inadequate transformers, and the local electrical inspector who had to see that houses were properly and safely wired to use the cooling machines.
