Steven Jerry Scheidt, 69, of Elkridge, Maryland, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland.
Born September 30, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Steven was the son of Paul and Betty Spies Scheidt. He grew up in Columbus, Indiana, and was a graduate of Columbus High School and Wabash College.
An extraordinarily loving husband and father, he enjoyed sailing, cars, grilling out and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an accomplished painter and a veteran of the Indiana and Michigan National Guards.
A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Harrison Lake Country Club in Columbus. The cremated remains will be buried in Garland Brook Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Scheidt of Elkridge; son, Ryan (Arielle Weininger) Scheidt of Chicago; daughter, Jessica (Jason) Jue of Vienna, Virginia; and grandchildren, Joanna and Margot Jue; mother, Betty Scheidt of Sun City, Arizona; and brother, Alan Scheidt of Hampstead, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Col. Paul Scheidt of Columbus.
