Short walk in store for Northside, St. Bartholomew students

Students at Northside Middle School and St. Bartholomew Catholic School will have to walk a couple of blocks each afternoon to pick up their bus ride home from Columbus North High School, according to a new transportation policy that begins with the new school year on Aug. 3.

The change is part of a district-wide initiative to support student health through physical activity, said Greta Hoover, an administrative assistant with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. transportation department.

School supervision and crosswalk safety measures will be implemented to promote student safety. Students will be expected to be respectful of the classes that may still be in session as they walk among the three schools.

The change only applies to afternoon transportation services. All morning bus arrival schedules will remain the same.
