Douglas A. Lynn, 67, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:33 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Born June 12, 1949, in Columbus, Mr. Lynn was the son of Ralph Arthur and Mary Margaret Ketchum Lynn.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1967 and from Indiana Central College (University of Indianapolis) in 1972.

He sold insurance for Common Wealth Life. He was an educator for 11 years and he was sole proprietor of Great Expectations Bookshop in Nashville, Indiana, for 17 years.

He married Ruth E. Rambo on Sept. 1, 1968.

A disabling heart attack in 2002 limited his work life. He found purpose in his faith, family, friends and hobbies. He became a gourmet cook and began his search for fine food and wine on his travels. This lead to him becoming a destination expert for Trip Advisor. His reviews can be found under his screen name of ybbhomeless.

He loved to read and sometimes offered a challenge for some of the local librarians to find a series he had not yet read.

He was lifelong collector of music kept current always.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years; his children, Brandon T. (Alisa) Lynn of Indianapolis, N. Benjamin (Keri) Lynn of Columbus and Carey Lynn Likens of Columbus; grandchildren, Tyler, Hayley and Dewey Lynn; brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Lynn of Columbus and Ronald (Nikki) Lynn of Columbus; a sister, Linda Moore of Cookeville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Elaine Barnsfather of Columbus; and his therapy dog, Mallory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Rodger Lynn; and granddaughter, Flora Lynn.
