Brownstown

Philip I. Patton, 67, of Brownstown, Indiana, died unexpectedly Thursday, Juley 21, 2016, at his residence.

He had been employed by Cummins Engine Co. as a mechanical journeyman for 37 years. He enjoyed restoring cars, racing and motorcycle racing. In addition, we was a story teller to everyone, including his grandchildren.

He was a member of Brownstown Christian Church.

Born November 7, 1948, in Orange County, Mr. Patton was a son of James N. Patton, who preceded him in death, and Elzora Mae (Piatt) Patton, who survives in Brownstown. On August 6, 1966, he married Marilyn Ballenger, who survives.

Other survivors include two children, Natalie (Glen) McGinnis and Mike (Tammy) Patton; five brothers, Roger (Donna) Patton, Michael (Nancy) Patton, Steve (Tami) Patton, Ken (Sherrie) Patton and Kevin (Mary) Patton; a half brother, Daniel Patton; two sisters, Linda (Victor) Greenwell and Kay (Joe) Phillips; a half sister, Teri Wheeler; grandchildren, Shana Jackson and Nate Jackson, Michaela Patton, Madison McGinnis, Brian (Katie) Vetter, Brandon (Brittney) Vetter and Andrew McGinnis;  and four great-grandchildren, Keegan Fish, Kami Vetter, Kaylee Jackson and Payton Jackson

He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Matthew Allen Patton.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 25, at Brownstown Christian Church, with Gary Morning officiating. Calling will be at the church from 4 p.m. until service time Monday.
