John Williamson, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life at 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Williamson retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1985 after 35 years of service.

After retiring he enjoyed carpet sales for 21 years with Quality Sales.

He was a strong Democrat and enjoyed Bluegrass music. He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge and V.F.W. and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Martin E. Wright officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Williamson was born in Johnson County, Kentucky, March 17, 1931. He was the son of Albert and Goldie Osborne Williamson.

He married, Rosemary “Rosie” Ford Jan. 4, 1950. She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2006.

Survivors include his sons, John A. (Terri) Williamson of Charlestown and Troy L. (Kathy) Williamson of Columbus; daughters, Brenda G. Moore of Columbus, Sandy Williamson of Greenwood, Kim (Randy) Olmstead of Columbus and Wendy (Keith) Roberts of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Moore, Barrett Moore, Mindy (Jeremy) French, Elesha (Rob Quillen) Williamson, Sarah (Nick) Leach, Mackenzie Blum, Ian Kochevar, Courtney Chaplin, Keith Roberts III, Chloe Roberts, J.W. Roberts and Jeremy (Kelly) Stephens; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Rufus, Lloyd, George, Berle, Albert and Gene Williamson; and a grandson, Drake Tanner Olmstead.
