Paris Crossing alumni meet for 45th annual reunion

The 45th annual Paris Crossing High School Alumni gathering, representing the former schools of Lovett, Marion and Paris Crossing, drew 110 people on June 24 at the Pines Evergreen Room in Seymour.

President Irene Royalty Engle welcomed the attendees; Nedra Nolte Short gave the secretary’s report; and Mary Lou Malcomb Nugent gave the treasurer’s report.

Officers for next year’s alumni gathering were elected. They were:

President: Ray Hughes (Class of 1958)

First vice president: Richard Young (’56)

Second vice president: Irene Royalty Engle (’54)

Secretary: Nedra Nolte Short (’56)

Treasurer: Mary Lou Malcomb Nugent (’57).

Selections for committees and other duties were made. Those chosen were:

Publicity: Young

Nominations: Hughes, Fairy Rose Ray McGuire (’57)

Memoriam: Kenny and Molly Carson Corbin family (’56)

Ways and means: Donna Hensley Robertson (’58), Linda Bridges Patterson (’58).

Banquet committee: Sharon Hughes Galliher (’57)

Scholarship committee: Galliher, Jane Kinder Reynolds (’56), Wilma Garrity Binford (’51)

Programs: Reynolds, Judith Kinder Smith (’61)

Three $500 scholarships were presented to graduating seniors from Lovett, Marion and Montgomery townships: Katelyn Madinger, Enrique Hendrix and Kyndyl Olds.

The classes of 1946 and 1956, teachers, the oldest present alumnus and the farthest-traveling alumnus were recognized. A memorial service was conducted for alumni who died this year. Molly and Kenneth Corbin celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. An auction raised money for alumni scholarships.

Next year’s alumni gathering is scheduled for June 23 again at the Pines Evergreen Room.
