Driver arrested after one-vehicle accident on Georgetown Road

A 16-year-old was transported by helicopter to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis after a one-vehicle accident in the 11000 block of West Georgetown Road.

Sheriff deputies Nate Nichols and Teancum Clark and Sgt. Kris Weisner were sent to the accident at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday where they found a vehicle on its top and a 16-year-old on the ground nearby.

The driver, identified as Brandon Dunbar, 19, 8750 Georgetown Road, said his vehicle went off the roadway and rolled down a hill, deputies said.

Dunbar told deputies that he had a couple of drinks and smoked weed earlier in the night, deputies said. Vehicle speed is also considered a factor, deputies said.

Dunbar was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, deputies said.

The 16-year-old was treated at the scene and then transported by helicopter to Methodist, where his condition is unknown, deputies said. A 14-year-old who was also in the vehicle was uninjured.

Dunbar has been released from the jail after posting $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
