Johnson County bridge closings Monday

The Indiana Department of Transportation will close two Johnson County bridges Monday to install new deck overlays.

RAM Construction, the state’s contractor for a $464,722 bridge preservation project, will remove the existing bridge overlay and install new epoxy overlays on:

  • State Road 252 Big Blue River Bridge about a half mile east of U.S. 31 near Edinburgh
  • State Road 44 Prong Stotts Creek bridge just west of State Road 135 near Trafalgar.

Both bridges will close up to 14 days.

Motorists may detour around the State Road 252 closure via U.S. 31 and Interstate 65. They may go around the State Road 44 closure via State Road 37, State Road 252 and State Road 135.

Traffic count on the State Road 252 bridge is 4,230 vehicles per day. Traffic count on the State Road 44 bridge is 1,600 vehicles per day.

Two other Johnson County bridges, the twin structures on U.S. 31 at the Big Blue River, are included in the contract and work there is continuing.
