Labor force increases, county unemployment rate drops

June’s state unemployment numbers shows Bartholomew County’s labor force has increased by 2,426 over the most recent 12-month period.

The number of workers also has increased year over year, from 41,909 in June 2015 to 44,298 this year, Indiana Workforce Development reported.

Bartholomew County’s unemployment rate for June was 3.5 percent, the third lowest in the state, compared to 3.7 percent one year ago.

Dubois County at 3.3 percent and Hamilton County at 3.4 percent were first and second for lowest unemployment among Indiana counties in June.

Indiana’s statewide rate for June was 4.6 percent, compared to 4.8 percent in June 2015.
