Carl R. Gibson, 62, of Columbus, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, at his home.

Carl was born August 28, 1953, in Pineville, Kentucky, the son of John Frank and Delana B. Howard Gibson.

He was previously employed at Impact Forge and North Vernon Forge before retiring from MACtac.

He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). Carl was also a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, loved golf, going to the beach and spending time with his dogs.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Donnie Carlock officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial dinner at Shiloh Baptist Church, 11988 State Road 46E, Columbus, immediately following burial.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy (Brown) Gibson; a son, Carl Gibson of Columbus; brothers, Ondar (Norma) Gibson of Lovett, Indiana, and Ronnie (Crystal) Gibson of Columbus; and sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Johnson, Jincy Diane “Jan” Carlock and Gilda Black, all of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tracey Gibson and Charles Dennis Gibson; and sisters, Phyllis Gibson and Beatrice Gibson.
