Jaden Mayhan of Elizabethtown came home with his second Hornet feature victory of the year July 25 at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood.
Mayhan, who earlier this season won his first career feature at Bloomington Speedway, bested Kenny Higbie, Billy Moore, Don Christman and Dylan Myer.
Robbie Roland and Jason Goff split the UMRA King of the TQ feature races. Roland took the top spot in the first feature, with Anton Hernandez, Matt Hedrick, Jason Goff and Caleb Faulkner of Columbus following.
In the second feature, it was Jason Goff emerging victorious over Robbie Roland, Matt Hedrick, Johnny Goff and Doug Roland.
Twin Cities results
After being idle for two weeks, Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon got back into racing mode July 23, when Marty O’Neal of Spencer captured the Super Late Model feature race. O’Neal, who drives a car owned by Larry Hartwell of North Vernon, won over Joe Brewer of Batavia, Ohio, Tory Collins of North Vernon, Alan Magner of North Vernon and Dylan Norman of Bedford.
Jeremy Helton from Paris Crossing crossed the finish line in first as he took the Super Stock feature event. Jeff Patterson from North Vernon was second, with Jared Burton, also of North Vernon, coming home in third. Davey Waggoner of North Vernon and Ross Smith of Columbus completed the top five.
Mark Bruce of Commiskey won the Pure Stock feature race. The defending track champion won over William Burton of North Vernon, Rodney Bugher of Underwood, Jeff Lucas of North Vernon and Ryan Layman of North Vernon.
Jeff Deckard of Ellettsville won the Modified main event over Mike Bechelli of Elizabethtown, Joe Maullen, Lee Hobbs of Mitchell and Gary Dunaway of Liberty.
Twin Cities will hold its next event next Saturday, Aug. 6, with Crate Late Models, Modifieds, Mini-Sprints, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks racing. For more info, visit twincitiesracewaypark.net.
Andretti wins at Lawrenceburg
Jarett Andretti of Indianapolis won his second Sprint Car feature of the year July 23 at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Andretti, the son of former NASCAR and IndyCar driver John Andretti, won the main event over Justin Grant, Jordan Kinser, Garrett Abrams and Dickie Gaines.
David Spille won his first Modified feature of the year at Lawrenceburg. Kyle Schornick finished second, followed by Scotty Kincaid, Bill Workman Jr. and Slater McCray.
Dalton Smith captured top honors in the Hornet Division. He was followed to the finish line by Andrew Jones, Gage Clark, Michelle Baird and Bradley Eberhardt.
Veteran racer J.D. Largent topped the Pure Stock Division, winning the main event. Corebin McRoberts finished second and Will McRoberts placed third. Completing the top five were Don Grace and Danny Eichler.

Brownstown in action tonight
Brownstown Speedway will wrap up the 2016 Jackson County 4-H Fair tonight with a full racing program. On the docket will be the Paul Crockett Memorial Race for Super Late Models. Also running will be Modifieds, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks. For more info, visit brownstownspeedway.com.
This week in racing history
In 1976, Phil Fultz of Clifford won the Sportsman feature at Twin Cities. Bud Seymour was second, followed by Columbus drivers Chuck Gilpin, Larry Goodin and Powell Ballard.
Also 40 years ago, at Brownstown Speedway, Paul Crockett won the Late Model feature. He was followed to the finish line by Dennis Boknecht, Ray Godsey, John Davis and Ira Bastin. 18-year-old rookie Pete Willoughby of Columbus placed 10th, his first career top-10 finish.
Ed Covey won the Hobby Stock main event at Brownstown over Scott Taskey of Columbus, Steve Rollins, Darrell Napier and Denny Ashley.
Also in 1976, Gene Petro of Columbus won the Late Model feature at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
At Bloomington Speedway, this weekend in 1976 saw Steve Kinser win the Sprint Car feature and Paul Crockett win the Late Model feature. The evening was marred by an accident involving veteran driver Calvin Gilstrap, who flipped violently in Turn 3 during qualifying. Gilstrap was rushed to a local hospital, where he died three days later from his injuries. He was 48. Gilstrap had announced earlier in year that he was going to retire at the end of the 1976 season after 30 years in the sport.
Thirty years ago, in 1986 at Twin Cities, Doug Ault won the Late Model feature race. He was trailed to the finish line by North Vernon drivers Jim Beeman and Scott McKeand. Gary Cooksey was fourth, followed by Lee Fleetwood.

John Gill won the Late Model feature at Brownstown on this weekend in 1986. Don Hobbs was second and Kevin Claycomb placed third. Jim Curry and Paul Shafer completed the top five.
Steve Trabue won the Modified Street Stock main event. Trailing to the finish line were Mike Jewell, Doc Jewell, John Mull and Joe Wilson.
Ray Humphrey won the Street Stock feature at Brownstown over Denny Campbell, Gary Bland and Columbus drivers Dave Barnett and Randy Petro.
