Elsie L. Stevens, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:15 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Stevens was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Center Hill, Alabama, to Alonzo W. and Mary L. Michaels Davis. She married Audie Stevens May 22, 1954. He preceded her in death Aug. 4, 2002.
She was a former custodian for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp and she retired from Cummins Engine Co. as a mail clerk.
She was a faithful member of Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle where she was involved in many church activities. She enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends, flower gardening and going to garage sales, and she was an animal lover.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Kathy) Stevens of Columbus, Alvin Stevens of Columbus, Linda (Terry) Hill of Columbus, Rita (Robert) Bell of Hope and Ann Stevens of Columbus; grandchildren, Jeremy (Erin) Crank, Nathan Stevens, Benjamin (Lynn) Stevens, Matthew (Danielle) Stevens, Jake (Chastity) Stevens, De-Von Stevens, Joshanda (Greg) Fiesbeck, Natalie (Brent) Ogle, Amy (Chris) Link, Bobbi (Durand) Myers and Robin (Michael) Jones; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandsons, Terry Hill Jr., Larry Hill and Rodney Brummett; two sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Eli Johnson officiating. Family and friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
