Runners up year-over-year

Registration for all Mill Race Marathon running events continues to exceed the rate of signups for last year at this time.

The biggest increase so far is in signups for the Kids Fun Run, set for Sept. 23. So far, 158 runners have signed up for that race compared to 132 at the same time last year, an increase of 20 percent.

Registration for the Saturday events, to be Sept. 24, are also up.

Marathon: 229 compared to 219 last year, up 5 percent

Half-marathon: 1,220 compared to 1,132 last year, up 8 percent

5K: 567 compared to 483, up 17 percent.

Other statistics as of Wednesday:

Of the 2,174 to sign up, females hold a 54 to 46 percent advantage.

The biggest age group is people 30 to 34, with 302 of them registered for one of the events.

90 percent of the runners signed up so far are from Indiana, with 1,948 Hoosiers registering.

57 percent of the Indiana runners (1,120) are from Columbus, with Indianapolis (128) in second.

Among out-of-state runners, the most are from Kentucky (58), followed by Ohio (44).
