A lean-to wood storage building was destroyed and a nearby home slightly damaged in a fire in Mead Village.

Columbus firefighters were called to a home at 1703 McCullough Lane at about 5:43 a.m. Tuesday, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.

The storage building was located near the home’s attached garage and the flames and extreme heat had begun to melt the home’s vinyl siding, Wilson said.

The fire was out within 15 minutes, but a wooden perimeter fence around the lean-to was damaged, in addition to the vinyl siding and a portion of an exterior wall for a sunroom patio, Wilson said.
