Brian’s picks – August 4

The Terrorz Roller Derby once again will battle the Columbus Firefighters in a scrimmage to benefit the Firefighters Cheer Fund on Aug. 7 at Columbus Skateland, 2660 N. Talley Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. and activites begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Those age 10 and younger will be admitted free.

I never had attended a hog roast until I came to Columbus years ago. The Sandcreek-Azalia Friends (Quaker) Meeting’s 30th Annual Hog Roast and Country Store will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the church. On the menu is grilled chicken, fresh tomatoes, cole slaw, green beans, baked beans, corn on the cob, rolls, lemonade and iced tea. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children through age 10; free for ages 3 and younger. Rag rugs are among items that will be available at the country store.
