Letter: Don’t support Trump’s military stance

As a Vietnam veteran who chose to do military service, I would like to give the reasons why Donald Trump should not be president of this country. His latest criticism of an American Muslim mother who lost her son in Iraq shows that he has no respect for the service and sacrifice of ordinary Americans. During the primaries, he criticized Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for being a prisoner of war. This is from a man who had his father buy him student deferments and one medical deferment for bone spurs. In the past week, he encouraged Russia to hack his opponent’s email system and showed complete ignorance about Russia and the Ukraine. This person should not be our next commander-in-chief clearly.

Voting for president is incredibly important. The wars in Vietnam and in Iraq were initiated by our presidents. Both were unjustified and disastrous. The current war against ISIS came about from our invasion of Iraq. Americans need to choose wisely in this next election.
